b’cause I don’t need it: a new blog about consumerism

Global consumption is overwhelming. People buy things that they don’t need, and that, for many reasons. There are many sides to the question of consumerism, such as whether a certain consumption pattern increases or decreases happiness, whether it enhances quality of life. I guess, for an average western person, it is quite clear that many acquisitions are useless or prove to be burden. These and other aspects of buying and not buying are of interest to me. I remember reading articles on subjects concerning buying decisions and emotions, as lately, Maria Konnikova‘s “To Buy or Not to Buy: …“. With time, I hope to collect information and shed light on our daily decisions, and, perhaps, raise awareness about what we need and what we don’t need to acquire to be happy.
